Broadspeed MK1 Escort

Back in September 2014,we took a trip to Italy to bring back a Broadspeed Mk1 Escort that belonged to the late Martino Finotto. This very historic European touring car has undergone gentle restoration to bring it back to its former glory.

The Car....

Originally built by Broadspeed in 1972 at their Southam workshop, the car is based around the RS 1600 and in this year FIA Appendix J  allowed the engine size to increase to 2.0lt in the group 2 class.

Engine....

Built by Jon Del Race Engines, the engine with a cubic capacity of 1975cc produces 290bhp on a Lucas fuel injection system.

Drivetrain.......

For the drivetrain we are using a direct top 5 speed ZF gearbox and a fully floating Atlas Axel. The car is rolling on 15 X 11 BBS replicas produced by Image wheels with Avon Slick tyres.

THE SERIES...

The Heritage Touring Cup echoes the glorious times (1966-1984) of the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC). The manufacturers battling for glory with BMW and their 3.0 CSL or 635csi, Ford with the Escort and Capri as well as Jaguar with the XJ12C Broadspeed followed by the TWR XJ-S to name a few. The Heritage Touring Cup, an era and a style promising some great track action.
